this is water
this is water we must learn to love
while it embraces us beneath our skins
and with our best to keep it pure
lest we forget to swim and drown in sins.
this is water that listens to
the waves and fabrics of boson shores
so that we may know where lies the harbor
that tethers our hearts to the hours.
this is water that lifts our dreams
and seeks its levels and its corners
and when it dries up we can be sure
this is water steering free of borders.

Yes, it is a gorgeous piece Said, and like water, it sweeps across reality and metaphor. Love the tethering of hearts, and all of it. Apart from poets not actually existing, there wouldn’t be much poetry without water, 😃 and scientifically, I remember how fascinated I was when I first learned of the transient complex structures that exist in water.
Thank you, Steve. Now that you mention about the structures that exist in water, I’m reminded of the fascinating work of Masaru Emoto, photographing water crystals after ‘shaping’ them with human emotions and thoughts (ie, good words resulting to beautiful crystal patterns and bad ones resulting to ugly patterns). Skeptics to the water experiments of Emoto criticize the work as less than scientific and more of fanciful pseudoscience. And maybe so… but then there’s the emerging science of quantum physics telling us that the observer does affect the reality of the observed, so Emoto’s proposition of “human consciousness affecting water” would probably still be an understatement about our reality. Meanwhile we remain immersed in a watery world, our visions by necessity remaining nebulous, the ideal environs for poets and poetry 😀

I googled, Masaru Emoto, photographing water crystals and it led me to water has memory. I have heard this before but today I sat with camera and notebook in hand. It seemed to answer or confirm so many theories I have had, with my own experience with water. Thank you both for taking me down this path again.
